FC Cape Town were handed a battle royal in this morning's friendly encounter against Vodacom League side, Chippas United.

It was an immediate return to earth for the African Beasts who were riding the crest of the wave after humbling the mighty Amakhosi last week.
They were lethargic throughout the first half and played without any urgency.

Against the run of play Soumah opened the scoring when he beat the Chippa's goalkeeper with a fine dipping shot.
Almost immediately Chippas responded through a well-taken header from the veteran, Mark Faro to make the score 1-1.
Play continued to be scrappy with Patrick Apatakki taken to hospital for stitches to an eye wound.
Shortly before the interval FC Cape Town were awarded a penalty which was coolly converted by the Soumah.

After a tongue-lashing by coach, Jozef Vukusic at the interval,  the players showed a lot more urgency in their play were positive from the outset.
However against the run of play Chippas equalised when Moses was beaten from an acute angle.
Midway through the second half the Chippas goalkeeper failed to gather Lyle Lakay's freekick and the ball was slammed home by Waseem Isaacs.

This was how the game ended in a game that turned out to be a worthwhile exercise.
On the basis of this performance, Chippas will be a serious threat in Vodacom League next season.
